What Can I Expect From a Consultation?

The initial consultation is the first active step that you make in meeting your immigration goal!

While attempting to apply for certain visas on your own or having a family member or friend assist you, it is very important to seek legal help. By not doing this, it could cost you even more money, time, and stress that could have been avoided if you had reached out to an immigration consultant first.

What will the consultation process look like?

Something like this:

1) Before Arriving - Come prepared

  • Have all documents that may be necessary to look at or take copies of at the consultation ready to go. Depending on the immigration advice you are seeking, this may include the following documents: passport, previous visas, birth certificate, hearing notices, order removal, past denied visas, and so on. These documents are crucial for us to properly understand your current situation and to assist you further.

  • Have a list of questions written down that you have prepared in advance for your consultation. There are no questions that are not worth asking! It is good to have them written down this way, you can make sure you have enough time to ask them during the one-hour consultation and so that you don't forget any of them either.

  • Have an open mind. Depending on your current situation or the situation of other family members involved, things may take longer that you are hoping - or to your surprise, they may happen quicker! Either way, it is important to listen to the professional in front of you and consider the options. Chances are, we have probably seen a similar case as your own and can predict, depending on the different scenarios, how your case will go.

2) The Day of Your Consultation - Arrive on Time

We want to give you all of the time and attention your case deserves during your one-hour consultation. However, arriving late could result in a shorter consultation due to tight schedules that we have with other clients that day. That being said, if we happen to be behind schedule due to unforeseen circumstances earlier in the day, rest assured that you will be given your full hour of consultation once you arrive.

3) Tell us EVERYTHING - Well, not EVERYTHING!

We need to know everything, all details, that will influence your case. When you are within the walls of the office of your immigration consultant, all details shared are confidential. If you have any sort of criminal record, whether it was last week or 8 years ago - we need to know! If you have never been married or have been married 5 times - we need to know! If you filed any type of immigration applications in the past - we need to know! We want you to feel comfortable in order for you to be able to tell us these important details which can be crucial in whether your application is successful or not. If you forget to mention a very important detail after the initial consultation, do not wait or think it is too late - let us know as soon as possible. We are here to help you, but we also cannot be left in the dark.

4) Options - There Could be More Than One

Once you have shared your immigration goals with us and given us a glimpse into your current situation, we will offer you options. Again, we need you to keep an open mind. Based on immigration rules and regulations as well as your current situation, there may be certain things to do before starting the immigration process. There also may be things that can't be done.

Trust us to know what we are doing!

Based on the options we provide you, it will then be up to you to decide what route you feel most comfortable taking. We will then make a list of items you may need to follow up with us on (such as additional documents) and a timeline for us to also take the next step in the process.
